You might end up with warped, damaged walls as a result of faulty installation, moisture damage, or other factors.

Choose a contractor that has demonstrated the top skills in drywall installation and repair. The best way to ensure your walls and ceilings look great while getting more out of your installation. Here are a few reasons why this is essential

Installing New Drywall

Walls and ceilings that are stable and of high quality begin with drywall installation that is done properly. Drywall hanging by our contractors is done with years of experience and expertise.

Priming And Painting

Once we have taped, mudded, and sanded, we begin the priming and painting process. To make sure it looks seamless and smooth, we use quality materials and professional tools.

Avoiding Seams And Nail Pops

One of the biggest problems with self-installation is noticeable seams or nail pops. Choosing a high-quality contractor who focuses on details and a high-quality result is essential if you want to avoid unsightly blemishes in your drywall installation.

Texturing The Wall

As part of our services, we can also help homeowners texture walls and ceilings after installing new drywall or preparing an existing one. Texturing can be used for many different purposes to give your home or room a new look. Texturing is best left to the professionals so that you can achieve the exact effect you want.

Fixing Problems With Moisture

Moisture problems within your home can cause the drywall to become soft and warped. A leak or excessive moisture will damage it over time, even if it’s not noticeable at first.

You can still have damaged walls after fixing an old leak, even if the source of water was repaired. It’s important to have a professional come in and remove water stains, soft areas in your drywall, or visible mold. We can then replace it with fresh drywall.

Repairing Damaged Areas

Home repair services are also available for damaged drywall in Chicago. Let us fix your damaged drywall and make it look new again if you have a hole or other damaged area.

Drywall Repair Is Essential Before Painting

Water Damage

The most effective solution for extensive water damage is to replace the entire sheet. In cases where the structure of the wall has not been compromised, a drywall repair is a feasible option.

To prevent drywall problems from recurring, it is important to find and fix the source of the damage before attempting to fix it. Let it completely dry and then assess its condition after repairs have been made.

To prevent stains from bleeding through the finished paint, use a stain blocker if there are any water stains. Surface-damaged drywall can be repaired by scraping off loose paint and topping compound, treating moldy areas with an anti-mold solution, and letting the wall dry.

Fill in the repair area with quality filler, let it dry completely, and then sand down any bumps with a fine-grit sandpaper. The water-damaged area will most likely need to be replaced if it is soft and spongy.

Holes

For smaller holes in drywall, the spackling compound should be used. For larger holes, a joint compound should be used. Apply the filler thinly around the hole with a putty knife.

Apply one more coat of filler after the first has dried, but without overfilling. When the second coat has dried, smooth the surface using fine-grit sandpaper.

Self-adhesive drywall patches can also be used to fix holes up to six inches in diameter. The best thing to do if the wall has multiple holes is to replace the damaged section or the entire sheet. Use a utility knife to cut down a damaged section and remove it.

Use screws to attach a new piece of drywall to the existing studs. Once the compound has dried, fill in any gaps between the new section and existing one, sand the surface, and allow the compound to dry.

Hairline Cracks

Hairline cracks tend to form on the inside corners of walls. The drywall repair, in this case, consists of caulking with acrylic latex, which is flexible and can resist movement between adjacent walls.

Loose Tape

The bubbles and lifting of the tape from the wall surface are also the common problems that need to be fixed. Fill the hole with the joint compound after cutting around bubbles and removing the tape. A thin layer of joint compound should be applied over the new strip of tape. Once the joint compound has dried, smooth out any imperfections.

Drywall Putty

Drywall Putty is a great way to quickly fix small holes in drywall. It is a thick paste, molded into the shape of the hole and then pressed over it. A little bit goes a long way so only apply enough to cover up or fill in the entire damaged area. Once it has dried completely you can sand off any excess with fine-grit sandpaper.

Once the putty has dried, you can apply a new layer of drywall compound to smooth it out and make your repair barely noticeable. If any pieces stick up more than others, use fine-grit sandpaper to even them out before applying additional layers of the compound on top.

How To Fix Cracks In Drywall With Texture

After you have repaired your drywall, you will want to apply a layer of texture over the area so that it matches the rest of the wall. There are many different textures that you can use but most either require a sprayer or trowel to apply.

One of the best things about drywall is that you can easily remove it and then later put it back up if there are any problems with your patching work, without causing too much damage to the wall itself.

When repairing cracks, it is best to use a drywall repair kit. These are widely available at home improvement stores and they come with several different sizes of patching material for many situations.

How To Patch Drywall With Texture

If you have larger holes in your sheetrock, it will be easier to cut out the section that needs repaired using either an oscillating multi-tool or a rotary tool. Once the hole is cut out, use screws to attach a piece of drywall in its place.

Drywall can also be torn down with your hands so if you need an even larger repair section than what the kit allows for then this will work fine as well.

Once the new patching material has been attached, it should be filled with joint compound. A thin layer of joint compound should be applied over the new strip of tape. Once the joint compound has dried, smooth out any imperfections with a putty knife or your finger. If any pieces stick up more than others, use fine-grit sandpaper to even them out before applying additional layers of the compound on top.

If you are using a sprayer to apply texture, be sure to cover the entire area around your repair with the compound so that it blends in well. If you are using a trowel, apply the texture in a crisscross pattern for best results. Allow the texture to dry completely before painting over it. You may need to apply more coats to get the perfect shade.

How To Patch Orange Peel Texture

When repairing orange peel texture, you will need to use a sprayer. If you do not have one, you can rent or buy one at most home improvement stores.

Be sure to read the instructions that come with the sprayer so that you know how to properly use it. Before spraying the texture over your repair, make sure that the area is completely covered with joint compounds.

This will help to ensure that the texture blends in well with the surrounding wall. Once the area has been sprayed, allow it to dry completely before painting over it. You may need to apply more coats to get the perfect shade.

How To Patch Popcorn Ceiling Texture

Once you’ve decided it’s time to take down your popcorn ceiling, you’ll need to patch the holes left behind. One of the best ways is with drywall putty and a taping knife. Refer to the above steps on how to apply drywall putty.

How To Repair A Hole In Drywall

There are many ways to repair a hole in drywall. The most common is by using a wall repair patch kit. These kits come with several different sizes of patching material and allow you to make repairs without having to cut out any additional sections of the wall.

The instructions on these kits vary based on the manufacturer but they work by removing part or all of an area around where you need your hole repaired. You then attach the patching material and apply compound to it to blend it in with the surrounding wall.

And remember, if you’re applying a texture with a sprayer, cover the entire area around your repair with the compound to help it blend in. If you’re using a trowel, apply texture in a crisscross design for optimum results. Before painting over it, allow the texture to dry fully. You might need to apply more coats than usual to achieve.
